The Bears Ears National Monument protects 1.35 million acres of public land encompassing the Bears Ears, a region steeped in rich cultural history, with sites sacred to Native American tribes. A coalition of Native American tribes comprised of Navajo, Hopi, Zuni and Ute are fighting to protect these culturally significant sites and continue to support monument status.
