The Burlington Northern rail line runs through Utah’s arid landscape north of the Green River. BNSF operates one of the largest freight railroad networks in North America, with 32500 miles of rail across the western two-thirds of the United States. Rail lines still crisscross Utah, but the financial boom that railroads once brought to these rural western communities has since faded.
